SPOTLIGHT PROJECT #1

The owners of this secluded Hunt Valley home met with Legacy Restorations about their kitchen remodeling project, at the recommendation of architect Melville Thomas.

“From the moment they walked in the door, we knew they were the best firm for our project. They were extremely polite and professional, had a good sense of humor, and we got the feeling they were very honest.”

The project initially involved bumping out the back wall of the home to create a new kitchen and sitting area. The old kitchen would become a wet bar and pantry. The family wanted to live in the house during the renovation. Everyone else had said it couldn’t be done, but Legacy was determined to make it work. The renovation began in November, and as it progressed, the scope of work grew. The project quickly became a whole-house renovation, with the addition of more windows, installation of new basement and bedroom carpeting, an upstairs bathroom remodel, an enlarged dining room with crown molding, a small screened-in porch, expanded foyer, new banisters for the main staircase, and partial removal of an upstairs wall.

Making the house livable during construction became everyone’s biggest challenge, but with patience and some creative problem solving, they managed it. The renovation took five months throughout a snowy winter, but the Legacy Restorations crew and their subcontractors didn’t miss more than one day due to weather. The entire project was completed in April, to the delight of the homeowners. The addition was seamless and blended into the home like it was part of the original floor plan.

“Not only were we pleased with everyone who worked for Legacy, but they have become very good friends.”

That’s Legacy service!
